Words you’ll see

STL
The standard 3D-print file format. Most slicer programs open it.
Schematic
Our story word for a build file.
License
What you’re allowed to do with your prints: keep them, or sell them.

In the story, schematics are licensed build files from the ship’s vault, designed from the print bed up: alignment pegs, magnet slots, heat-set insert holes and room for LEDs where a prop needs them.

Quick Start Guide to Fixing Ships (the dock mechanic’s version)

  1. Listen first. Every ship hums at its own frequency. Ears before scanners.
  2. Check the triad. Power grid, coolant flow, atmosphere seals.
  3. Never trust auto-diagnostics. Trust the flicker.
  4. Patch first, then think.
  5. Carry: flux resonator, phase spanner, polyspectrum visor, nanite patch gel (smells like burnt ozone), portable harmonic stabilizer.
  6. Respect the machine.
  7. Walk away when you’re angry.
  8. Know when to say it’s dead.
